Missy turns 10!

So on the on the 7th of February Missymoo celebrated turning 10! Shes mine and my husbands first dog together as adults she was my 21st birthday present.

Me and Missy at my 21st birthday party

We have always considered Missy as our ‘first born’ and she is very much our baby. I’ve always hated leaving her which is how I become a dog groomer. When she was 16 weeks I took her to the groomers for a puppy wash and could cope leaving her for that hour, I picked her up and vowed I wouldn’t do it again and learn to do it myself.

So that year I enrolled at college to learn how to groom Missy, I did not intend to be a dog groomer at first I literally just wanted to groom Missy myself. My love of dogs and new found passion for grooming led me to then get work experience in a salon and pursue my career!

If it wasn’t for Missy there would be no Missymoos Dog Grooming, she has literally changed our lives! She has always been a fantastic dog at home and in the salon. Although she has had her moments like all dogs, when she was younger she would like to get in our flower pots and help with the gardening! She would also like to help with cleaning out the rabbit hutches if left for too long in the garden.

She has the gentlest nature and even with big changes like Junior being born getting, arrival of an annoying little sister (Tinkerbell) and moving house she has always coped amazingly! She is literally the best dog ever and I don’t know where I’d be without her.

She’s had a tough year health wise firstly being diagnosed with dry eye, which is a horrible condition where for whatever reason the immune system has attacked her tear ducts and they no longer prodice tears. She has lost 80% of her sight because of it and I have to wash her eyes out every morning and she has 3 different types of eye drops put into her eyes throughout the day everyday. If I didn’t do this her eyes would become very sore. She will most likely loose all her sight but Missy being Missy copes amazingly with it!

Missy also had to have surgery at the end of 2019 as tumours were found on her spleen. The amazing vet at vets 4 pets operated and removed her spleen and the tumours were tested and found to thankfully be benign. Her recovery was a bit slower than it should’ve been and she kept us on our toes but two weeks after surgery she was back on her paws and enjoying life again.

So for her 10th birthday as its a big one being double digits! We celebrated with a dog cake from Doggie Desserts this went down a treat and she shared it with her friends in the salon. Missy also enjoyed opening presents and had a new collar and lead along with dog treats. Happy Birthday Missymoo!
